Impact of Brexit on door standards, CE marking and more

27 June 2018

The eagle eyed may already have spotted a DHF update on this topic however I thought it important to reiterate the main points made and answer questions we’ve started to receive from some customers. Whilst concern is understandable in all the Brexit uncertainty it is important to realise that responsibilities, standards and CE marking are not due to change once the UK exits the European Union.

The BSI standards will remain in place and will not be replaced, and CE marking is likely to remain in force until 31st December 2020. Although testing bodies might change I think the important point is that there will still be testing bodies and it will continue to be the responsibility of door manufacturers and installers to make sure that products are tested and compliant.

I think the good news therefore is that it’s business as usual, we don’t need to familiarise ourselves with new standards. Of course, for any companies not already compliant the pressure is on to meet existing requirements.

GfA CE marking certificates are available in the Resources Section of the GfA website.
